About
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791) was an Austrian composer who showed prodigious musical talent from age 3, composed his first symphony at 8, and wrote over 800 works in his 35 years — including 41 symphonies, 27 piano concertos, 23 string quartets, and operas including Don Giovanni and The Magic Flute. Many consider him the greatest musical genius who ever lived.
Mozart toured European courts as a child prodigy, astonishing aristocrats. Despite his genius, he struggled financially as an adult and died at 35 — possibly from rheumatic fever — and was buried in a common grave. His Requiem, left unfinished at his death, became one of music's greatest mysteries.
