About
The Sagrada Família in Barcelona is Antoni Gaudí's magnum opus — a basilica that has been under continuous construction since 1882 and is still not complete. Gaudí devoted the last 43 years of his life to the project and is buried in its crypt. The cathedral blends Gothic and Art Nouveau styles in a breathtaking organic architecture inspired by natural forms.
Despite never being finished, it was consecrated as a minor basilica by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010 and receives over 4.5 million visitors annually — more than any other tourist site in Spain. Completion is now projected for 2026, the centenary of Gaudí's death.
